imageFireblight is a bacterial disease spread from one tree to another during blossom-set, by pollinating insects, birds, wind and rain. Affected trees are apple, flowering crab, pear and other fruit bearing trees and bushes, mountain ash and cotoneaster shrubs. Many mountain ash trees have died over the last few years from this disease.

Treatment for fireblight includes pruning out the infected branches. If damage is extreme, a fertilizer program is recommended and trees should be injected with oxytetracycline in the fall. Turfmaster can provide these services for you.
